Pipeline Renovation Techniques
Slip Lining/Insertion
Where spray lining applications are rendered inappropriate due to the pipes overall structural integrity, an alternative method can be adopted. The existing pipeline can be thoroughly cleaned and used as a host for a new HPPE pipe section.
This method requires minimal excavation for launch and reception pits and is carried out by pulling the section lengths into the existing asset using push and pull methods, creating a slight reduction in the pipes overall internal diameter. If required the space between the new and old pipe can be filled, the new pipe section is then reconnected to the system.
This proves a particularly cost effective structural trenchless method, largely due to DVS Pipelines' ability to achieve rapid installation times with no disturbance to adjacent services and no requirement to perform over pumping.
Whilst this process provides a new leak free pipe within the old, it is generally suited to systems where pipelines can be down-sized, thus proving a particularly popular option within the gas sector.
