Pipe Bursting
Pipe bursting offers a solution for water and waste water mains pipes that have deteriorated beyond repair. It is also an ideal solution for the upsizing of pipes to cope with increased flow levels.
This trenchless method is ideal in applications where no surface disruption is a requirement. This is largely due to minimal excavations throughout the installation process, but it is also the result of the rapid installation times that are achievable by DVS Pipelines.
Pipe busting involves the existing pipe being used as a host; a bursting head breaks up existing pipe, displacing it into the surrounding geology, at the same time replacing it with new polyethylene pipe of the same or larger diameter.
Pipe bursting is currently the only method available for the upsizing of pipelines without full open cut trench excavation. It therefore proves a consistently popular method for application in urban situations and, due to the speed of installation achievable by DVS Pipelines, it is also used in other locations where time and cost are important factors.
