Directional Drilling

Directional drilling is a popular no-dig technique that is often undertaken when slip lining and pipe bursting are unsuitable and new pipe-work installation is required.

Directional drilling is ideal for any number of situations, both remedial and bespoke, where minimal disruption or excavations are a project priority, for example: during the crossing of roads, railways, and waterways, or for mitigating the cost of permanent reinstatement if the only route is within the highway.

Directional drilling provides an extremely cost efficient alternative to open cut methods, requiring minimal excavation, it can be used to insert large sections of pipe through a variety of geo terrains in a timely and efficient manner.

A drilling machine bores a pilot horizontal hole at the required depth into which a new pipe can then be pulled into place. DVS Pipelines offers installations of pipes ranging from 125mm to 315mm using in house equipment.

DVS Pipelines can also project manage larger schemes using carefully selected sub-contractors.

Directional drilling can also be used to install ducting for electric and telecommunication cables.
